Programs are offered in American studies, business, dental hygiene, early childhood education, English, human development, medical technology, nursing, and psychology. Internships and other hands-on experiences supplement the liberal arts core. About a third of the full-time faculty hold doctorates.

Students hail mainly from the New England area, and a significant number attend part-time. Enrollment is about 400, with women outnumbering men. About a third of the students are over the age of 25. Less than half of the students live in campus housing.

The Westbrook Wildcats compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Extracurricular activities include the student-run newspaper, student government, professional societies, intramural sports, and drama groups. The center of Portland is only 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) from campus, and many students take advantage of its cultural and social scene. Likewise, the school is not far from Maine's coast and the mountains, providing additional recreational opportunities.
