specialized undergraduate institution covering 110 acres (45 hectares) in Babson Park, Fla., along the shores of Lake Caloosa. Economist Roger Babson and his wife, Grace Knight Babson, founded the college in 1927 and named it after their granddaughter, Camilla Grace Webber. Students can earn associate and bachelor's degrees in business-related disciplines such as accounting, management, retailing, finance, marketing, and hospitality services. More than half of the full-time faculty hold doctorates. The college has study abroad programs in England and Germany. Students are encouraged to gain experience through internships. The academic calendar is divided into semesters. Webber enrolls about 400 students, with an equal number of men and women in attendance. About a third of the students come from outside the state. Approximately a quarter of the students are over the age of 25. Traditional-age freshmen must reside in campus housing. The college conducts a variety of extracurricular activities, and its varsity sports teams compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. |
