His first album, Storms of Life (1986), became a number one record and a 2-million-copy seller. Always and Forever (1987), sold 3 million copies and was number one on the Billboard country chart for 46 weeks. Old 8 x 10 was released in 1988, and more than 1 million copies were sold by early 1990. No Holdin' Back was released in 1989. Travis won more than 40 awards, including a Grammy, and in 1987 he became the youngest singer ever to join the Grand Ole Opry.
