Roman Catholic institution founded in 1919. Its campus covers about 25 acres (10 hectares) in Detroit, Mich. Enrollment consists of fewer than 100 students, with relatively equal numbers of undergraduate and graduate students. The student body consists primarily of state residents, and most non-residents are from foreign countries. About half of the undergraduates are over the age of 25. Most students are preparing for the priesthood, so men vastly outnumber women. The campus contains student housing. The seminary awards an associate degree in lay pastoral ministry. Bachelor's degrees can be earned in general studies, philosophy, or ministries. Sacred Heart's graduate studies are in theology. The faculty consists of both full-time and part-time instructors. The academic calendar is divided into semesters. Interested students may study off-campus at other Catholic institutions in the area. |
