independent Christian institution founded in 1940. Its campus covers more than 25 acres (10 hectares) in Grand Rapids, Mich. The college operates on a semester calendar and awards associate and bachelor's degrees. Disciplines offered include religious studies, child and family studies, liberal arts, secretarial studies, and social work. Opportunities exist to study in Mexico. About a third of the students go on to pursue advanced studies in religion. Enrollment consists of approximately 200 students, with relatively equal numbers of men and women. About half of the students are state residents, and a quarter of the students come from outside of the United States. Approximately 40 percent of the students are over the age of 25, and many attend part-time. Traditional-age students must reside in campus housing through their sophomore year. College life includes intercollegiate and intramural sports, musical and theatrical groups, and a student-run newspaper. |
