Enrollment consists of about 1,000 undergraduates and 500 graduate students. The college primarily attracts students from the North Central region of the United States. Students under the age of 22 who do not live with relatives are required to reside in campus housing.

More than two thirds of North Park's full-time faculty hold doctorates. The college operates on the semester system and grants bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degrees. Undergraduate fields of study include education, art, business, communications, exercise sciences, international affairs, medical technology, music, nursing, occupational therapy, and youth ministry. A five-year engineering program is available in conjunction with various other institutions. A degree completion program for adults offers acceleration to a bachelor's in organizational management. North Park is a member of the Christian College Coalition, and students can take part in the organization's programs, such as studying film in Hollywood, observing Latin American culture in Costa Rica, or holding a work-study position in Washington, D.C. Roughly 20 to 30 percent of North Park's students pursue advanced studies directly after graduation.

Most of the college's graduate-level programs take place through the theological seminary. North Park also grants master's degrees in business and nursing.

Extracurricular activities at North Park include musical groups, a drama club, and the student-run newspaper. About a third of the students do volunteer work on a weekly basis. Intramural sports draw more than half of the undergraduate student body as participants. Varsity sports teams compete in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
