nondenominational, undergraduate institution covering about 85 acres (34 hectares) in the town of Hobe Sound, Fla. The college, founded in 1960, grants associate and bachelor's degrees within the areas of religion, education, liberal arts, and office management. The numbers of full-time and part-time instructors are relatively equal. Hobe Sound operates on a 4-1-4 calendar, which means two full semesters of approximately four months each with a one-month term in between.
Enrollment consists of roughly 150 students, about a fifth of whom attend part-time. Admission is noncompetitive. State residents make up about a third of the student body and international students almost a quarter. Traditional-age students who do not live with relatives must reside in campus housing. College life includes a choral group and intramural sports.
