team of French tennis players who won six consecutive Davis Cup victories, from 1927 to 1932. They were Jean Borotra (1898–1994), Jacques Brugnon (1895–1978), Henri Cochet (1901–87), and René Lacoste (1904–96). Between 1922 and 1932 ten of the French Championships were won by Cochet, Lacoste, or Borotra. Each year from 1924 to 1929 one of these three also won the Wimbledon singles title. Brugnon won ten Grand Slam doubles titles. Roland Garros Stadium in Paris was built in their honor. Borotra competed in the veterans' division at Wimbledon in his 70s. Lacoste, nicknamed The Crocodile, launched a sportswear company, and his emblem became internationally famous. (See also Tennis.)
