(1676–1750), Spanish architects. The three brothers of the Churriguera family were recognized as the leading architects of their time. Associated with the Spanish late-Baroque style, their works featured fantastically complicated ornamentation. The eldest son, José Benito, designed buildings in Madrid and Salamanca, among other Spanish cities. The altar at the church of San Estéban in Salamanca is considered a masterpiece in the Churrigueresque style. (See also Architecture.)
