330-acre (134-hectare) campus in South Lancaster, Mass., 40 miles (64 kilometers) west of Boston. The school is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventists. Founded as an academy in 1882, it has grown over the years to conduct a range of programs at the associate through master's levels. The student body numbers about 1,200, including undergraduates, graduate students, and adult learners in the continuing education programs. About half of the students come from outside of the state. More than 50 percent of the students attend part-time. The college has a significant enrollment of minorities and students from foreign countries. Many students are Seventh-day Adventists who choose the college for its religious affiliation.

The academic calendar contains full semesters in the fall and spring and optional three-week terms in the winter and summer. More than 40 percent of the full-time faculty hold doctorates. The college offers a master's program in education. Undergraduate disciplines include liberal arts and sciences, business, theology, music, art, social work, computer sciences, education, interior design, nursing, personal ministries, fitness management, and paralegal studies. Students interested in going abroad can study at select institutions or do volunteer work.

The college expects traditional-age, full-time students to live with their parents or in campus housing. In addition to single-sex dormitories, Atlantic Union maintains married student housing. College life includes musical and theatrical groups, men's and women's clubs, cultural heritage organizations, and intramural sports. Varsity sports teams compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
