(1818–94). U.S. social reformer and temperance lecturer Amelia Jenks Bloomer was born in Homer, N.Y. Active as a speaker and writer for temperance and women's rights, Bloomer was the editor of the Lily, believed to be the first newspaper edited entirely by a woman.
