Its tributaries are the ?eljeznica, Miljacka, Fojnica, La?va, Gostovi?, Krivaja, Usora, and Spre?a rivers, all noted for freshwater fishing. The major cities along the river are Zenica and Doboj. After World War II, industry—especially metallurgical industry—expanded along the river valley.
